Will Golf for You

For the first time, you (the churches) have a representative in the Family Promise Golf Marathon on May 11 at A.J. Jolly Golf Course. I have been an avid golfer for 20 years, and play as often as possible. I am looking forward to representing our host and support churches in the event, and hope that you will support me in the effort.

If you are unaware of the golf marathon, this is an annual event where golfers play 100 holes of golf in one day, and take pledges for each hole they will play. Each golfer is asked to raise $2500 in order to participate. Since I am not native to Cincinnati, and have limited resources for fund raising, it is my prayer that each church would be willing to make a contribution to my efforts. I have set a lofty goal of raising $3500 personally.

In addition to financial support, I am also looking for emotional and spiritual support. First, even if you cannot donate, please pray for me. I have never played this many holes in one day. Two years ago, I played 45 holes in one day, on one of the hottest days of the year, at Hickory Sticks. That is the most I have ever played and I was tired for a week afterwards, so 100 holes is going to be a challenge for me. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Next, I am looking for one or more people to agree to be my cart driver for the event. It will help speed things along if I can focus on playing golf while someone else drives the cart, spots my golf balls, and provides moral support. Since I am playing for our churches, I think it would be amazing to have a couple of our coordinators come out and take turns driving the cart. You do not have to know anything about golf, although it would help, but I do ask that you know how to drive. :-)

If you have any questions, feel free to call me at the office or on my cell. This event is for a great cause, and one that you are already supporting. Please prayerfully consider giving me your support as we share the love of Christ with children and their families who are homeless in Northern Kentucky. To pledge or donate please go to the Golf Marathon website and click on the "Support" button next to my name. www.nkyihngolf.org You may also send a check directly to:

Please write Bill Hobstetter Golf Marathon in the memo line so that the donation will be applied to my goal.

Thank you for your support!

As I mentioned at the coordinator's meeting, I have been training hard with the help of Ben Crane's workout video. Here is a link if you would like to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_KHh_c6Ha4

First Post

This is the first blog post for our coordinators and volunteers for Family Promise of Northern Kentucky. This blog will be used to provide you with updates of valuable information for Interfaith Hospitality Network and programming. I may include pictures of events, family updates, devotional thoughts and scriptures, and occasionally funny, random thoughts.

If there is anything you would like to see here, please feel free to let me know.
